Our Services

Services in Our Center

Our ServicesOur services improve poorly managed pain or symptoms. We help to improve communication patterns between patient and providers as well as reduction of discontinuous or fragmented care approach. Our services focus on the reduction in psychosocial or spiritual suffering that is amplified if left untreated in the dying process.

Some examples of our palliative medicine include:

  • Pain Management
  • Respiratory Distress Management
  • IV Therapy
  • Ventilator Management

Our philosophy of care includes the following:

  • Relief from pain and other distressing symptoms as well as reducing the symptom burden.
  • Identification of death as a normal process, neither hastened nor postponed.
  • Recognition that the dying process is profoundly individualized and occurs within the dynamics of the family.
  • Enhancing the quality of life by recognizing and integrating interventions for the physical, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions of the patient.
  • Utilizing the multidisciplinary team to address the multiple needs of the patient and family including bereavement services.
  • Enhancing quality of life and positively influencing the course of disease.
  • Applying evidence-based practice to support appropriate interventions that improve patient quality of life.
  • Offer care that reaches perfection in symptom management and in care for the psychosocial and spiritual forms of suffering.

Palliative care has grown as an international movement that promotes quality of care at the end of life. Palliative care can be integrated into the care of all chronic progressive illnesses and some acute illnesses in which prognosis is poor. Palliative medicine has been formally recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Our Center

Our ServicesMany programs do not have the luxury of an in-patient palliative care service. The planning of our center began in 2008, building started in July of 2011 and completion occurred in May of 2012. The facility is located in the center and heart of El Paso, Texas where it houses our in-patient facility with a concealed garden as well as a private, comfortable dining area. The meals are developed and supervised for each of our patients by a dietitian. Our center has its own auditorium which is used for private family bereavement sessions conducted at any time by our spiritual counselor and/or social workers.
